About Creator

I am Ashley Macho, a senior at University of Hawaiʻi – West Oʻahu. I’m working towards my Bachelor’s of Arts in Creative Media with a concentration in General Creative Media. I started as a video student, then transitioned my way to layout, graphics, coding, and web design. I love talking to people and hearing their stories, and telling my own stories as well.

I love to read. I was a bookworm as a child, and I noticed I was one of few who really liked books. I slowly transitioned out of reading in high school. But I got back into reading in college. And even more so, I noticed the lack of reading in my peers. I also noticed people falling for misinformation, not reading entire articles (only headlines), and making a ridiculous amount of grammar mistakes.

I has to wonder how did this happen? What lead us to this point? Why are adults and children not reading? How can we stop this?

Which has lead me down this path. Now, I’m attacking the root of the problem and hope to see more children reading so we can have a better future.

The Bachelor’s of Arts in Creative Media senior capstone experience at UHWO is different from most. Where most students may do a semester of research and present it for their capstone, we do that plus a project deliverable. We take our research and use it to drive what our project looks like and what it achieves. Students create a tumblr blog to share their creative process.
